This I Believe:

Philosophy: This I believe that all educators have the power to help mold the youth of this nation.

This I Believe:
1. That we must unlearn many aspects of how we approach education.
2. That we must make an effort to use time more wisely in education.
3. That we have control over many things in education.
We have control over the way we prepare our lessons, the way in which we communicate our lessons, the intensity at how we teach.
4. That there are many factors that we have no control over such as IEP's, Core Content Areas, Core Content Curriculum Standards, and state testing.
5. That we must approach each day as a new beginning and passion for our jobs as educators.

The comment on using time wisely speaks to me. How would YOU make a change to use time more wisely?

Mike,

I agree with your statements completely. The clip we watched last week in class illustrated how much time we waste during school. Obviously, there is more to be taught than just what's in the curriculum. However, it is important to maximize the amount of time you teach your students and most importantly, teach them to think. Although they won't remember all the information you teach them, hopefully they'll be able to think and problem solve in the future.

Mike,

You hit it on the button. It is all about the passion and love of teaching. When you enter the classroom and students see your excitement and joy, it shows students that you care. If your students know that you believe in them, then your students will conquer many obstacles in your classroom throughout the school year.

I liked your statement -- to the point, and it captures really why we are teachers in the first place.
